Incomplete injuries cover a wide range, and central cord syndrome (CCS) has its own quirks — the hands and arms are often affected more than the legs, recovery can continue for months or years, and the burning nerve pain is real and frequently undertreated. "You look fine" becomes its own kind of hard.
